First day in Casablanca ...

My colleague, Sue, and I arrived at 7:30am in Casablanca after flying all night from JFK. It was actually only a 6 1/2 hour flight that was quite bumpy so I didn't get as much sleep as I'd have liked, but I had a nap once my room was ready and then went out for a nice long walk.
The city reminds me a lot of Cyprus - parts of town are very nice and kept up, and other parts are a bit seedy. I walked through the medina - the outdoor market - and saw all kinds of stuff. Of course my eyes were drawn to the scrawny cats that inhabit the area but people were feeding them and they were lying in the sun, enjoying themselves, so it wasn't horrible. Sure makes my guys look fat though!

Other teammates arrived throughout the day and 11 of the 15 of us had a very nice traditional Moroccan dinner just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. I had a beef tagine with almonds and figs - it was delicious!

8:30 yoga tomorrow morning will come soon. Off to bed!
